Community Empowerment through Digital Literacy and Islamic Business Ethics in the Shopee Affiliate Program to Enhance the Economic Independence of Mothers in Kepuhrejo Village

The rapid development of digital technology has opened new opportunities for community-based economic empowerment, particularly for rural households. However, limited digital literacy remains a major barrier for many communities to participate in the digital economy. This community service program was implemented to enhance the digital skills and economic independence of mothers in Kepuhrejo Village through training on the Shopee Affiliate Program, a commission-based marketing system that enables users to earn income by sharing product links without capital or product ownership, while adhering to Islamic business ethics. These ethical principles include honesty (shidq), trustworthiness (amanah), transparency to avoid uncertainty (gharar), avoiding deception (tadlis), refraining from manipulating demand (najasy), upholding justice (‘adl), providing excellent service (ihsan), and ensuring that products and transaction processes are free from riba and prohibited elements. The activity was conducted on August 9, 2025, involving 47 participants and delivered through participatory assistance combining explanation, demonstration, discussion, and hands-on practice. The training materials included digital security awareness, Shopee account creation, introduction to Shopee Affiliate, and practical exercises in creating and sharing affiliate links. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge and skills, as they successfully created Shopee accounts and affiliate accounts and independently practiced sharing product links. The program also strengthened participants’ understanding of ethical digital marketing aligned with Islamic business values such as honesty and trustworthiness. In conclusion, this training effectively improved digital literacy, enhanced economic awareness, and opened new income opportunities for mothers in rural areas. Sustainable follow-up programs are recommended to optimize long-term economic impact.
